All year long the Bordeaux International Wine Institute organized numerous “on site” visits to vineyards and wine related companies enabling each promotion composed of a multitude of nationalities to become familiarized with the richness and the specificities of the Bordeaux “terroir”, appellations and vintages.
As a matter of fact, students visited Château GUIRAUD and Château LA TOUR BLANCHE, two “Grand Crus Classés” from 1855 in SAUTERNES, permitting them to taste and compare different vintages. Students also attended many vineyards visits in MEDOC, in collaboration with the Conseil des Grands Crus, such as Château LAGRANGE, in Saint-Julien, Château LASCOMBES who produce a Margaux classé, and Château BATAILLEY famously known for its Pauillac classé.
Other visits were also scheduled in Entre-deux-Mers in vineyards such as COURCELLES, GONFRIER, and in other appellations like St-Émilion and Cognac.

On top of these traditional production facilities visits or vintage tastings, students benefited from meeting with professionals who shared their professional expertise. From past years, students appreciated attending wine marketing seminars and asking questions to different vineyard owners or managers, providing them with a better knowledge of the Bordeaux wine market.
